REPRESENTATIVE FOOTBALL

The Ipswich Diggers name is one synonymous with Ipswich and its community. 

Our name - Ipswich Diggers - & Logo pays tribute to the Ipswich region's proud history as a coal mining centre.

Ipswich's first senior game of Rugby League was played in Ipswich was on 9th October 1909.  The game was played at the North Ipswich Reserve and was between a Brisbane side and a side selected from the Ipswich Rugby Union players, Brisbane winning 43 to 10. 

Our Under 13, 14, & 16 sides play the Gold Coast and Brisbane teams to earn positions in the South East Queensland Division teams which in turn contest the State Titles.

Our Under 11 & 12 Development sides tour to Maitland in N.S.W. each Easter, and a return tour is held in July.

Our Under 13, 14 and 15 Development sides participate in the Tri-Series tour which see Ipswich compete against Gatton & Toowoomba.

Ipswich Senior player have similar opportunities to represent Ipswich, South East Queensland Division and some are lucky enough to have had Queensland selections.

Our A Grade & Colts sides play the Gold Coast and Brisbane teams to earn positions in the South East Queensland Division teams.

We have a proud history of players being named in the State Merit teams.
